· City Bus Lines Optimization Guidelines

In order to facilitate the low-carbon emission objective and to prioritize public transit system, in March 2008 Housing and urban-rural Development bureau ofJiangsu Province co-worked with CSTC on a research of City Bus Lines Optimization Guidelines. The proposal requires the research team review the bus lines studies in Nanjing, Changzhou and Jiangyin and formulate a guideline. The guideline will be a technical guidance, including public transit evaluationsystem, bus lines optimization methods, optimization implementation and etc. The appendix included objectives of bus lines optimization, classification standards for bus lines, index explanation, public bus survey guide, model explanation and frequently used optimization methods. The choice of three cases took different types into account: Nanjing with Metro system, Changzhou with BRT lines, and Jiangyin with well-established bus lines.
